We are given one life with which we can make an impact on this world. I have chosen education as the route through which I will make that impact, or perhaps education chose me. I have been teaching for four years and most important to my educational philosophy is the importance of understanding individual students' needs, both academically and emotionally.
I currently teach 6th graders in math, language arts (including reading, writing, and other), social studies and more. I have also taught science, nutrition, physical education, and kickboxing.
I am attaining my masters in Special and General childhood education from Bank Street College of Education.
What I can tell you is this, there are very few experiences that feel more fulfilling than working with a child individually, even if that experience entails anxiety, stress and frustration. As a person I listen to each child, I hear what they have to say, I create an environment in which they are not afraid to make mistakes and in which they feel pride in their work. The glorious result of it all is getting that high five from a student after they ace a math test, write a remarkable essay, and see the fruits of their labor which I believe with me will be enjoyable!
