I've been been tutoring students for over ten years in math, chemistry, physics and many different standardized tests, including SAT, ACT, AP, GRE, and Regents.
I'm a full-time, working postdoctoral researcher at Columbia (in psychology). My past tutoring across an array of student levels - from middle school to college, from remedial to perfect-SATs - has given me a depth and breadth of experience to provide an effective style catering to every students' needs. A goal I reach for is providing the bigger picture for why things work and why problems are solved the way they are. Answers are usually simpler and more logical than we realize. The high grades and scores naturally follow.
In brief, I double-majored neurobiology and math as an undergraduate at Cornell, with my Ph.D. in neuroscience there as well. I've been a postdoc at NYU and now Columbia. However, in an extended break between graduate school and returning to the lab, I was a full-time tutor covering math and science for an agency on the Upper East Side. This three-year period gave me a deep familiarity with New York City private school math and science curricula, as well as a comprehensive understanding of standardized testing, and the means to teach how to ace them.
My schedule is extremely flexible 7-days a week and can meet wherever is most convenient for you: at home, a coffee shop, or library.
I spend a lot of extra time and effort on all of my students, which reflects my own enthusiasm for math and science. Hopefully, this is reflected in your own academic achievement.
