Calculus is the mathematics that deals with the infinite and infinitesimal. It is a fundamental idea that is integral to our modern understanding of the universe.
I've been doing calculus in nearly all of my classes for the last 2 years straight (majoring in physics). It is intuitively ingrained in my way of thinking, and if you're willing to put in the effort I can make it ingrained in yours as well.
Physics is the science of understanding the universe at its most basic level. Sure it has many applications, but that's not why we do it. We do it because it is fun, and because it is a source of underlying truth unaffected by human bias.
I have been doing physics of some form or another for the last 6 years (counting high school). I am currently pursuing a degree in physics. I can do Newtonian mechanics, Lagrangian mechanics, calculate Hamiltonian's, use Maxwell's laws and basically do all the things you would call "classical physics." I can sometimes solve the time independent Schrodinger wave equation, I can apply Lorentz transformations and I know numerical methods exceptionally well. In short, I can do physics and so can you.
