I am more than well qualified for this position for the following reasons: First, I have previously been employed by design firms that specialized in corporate interiors, retail outlets, and residential projects. I had worked with NELSON, LWC Design Build, and SCR Design Organization.
Second, while at those companies, I was part of the managerial staff. This required me to delegate work responsibilities to the CAD staff and be certain that all operators stayed close to the project schedules established. I had to maintain, and manage the CAD system. All of those companies had customized AutoCAD menus that were authored by me.
The managerial position(s) also typically required me to conduct interviews for new CAD operators and familiarize them with the company CAD standards when they “came on board.”
The last company that I had worked for was NELSON. NELSON is a national (now international) design firm. My position with NELSON was Manager, AutoCAD Strategy and Training. This position required me to interact with all CAD operators (300+) employed by NELSON.
When I was at LWC, I was in the position of Director of CAD/CAFM (Computer Aided Design/Computer Aided Facilities Management). Additional responsibilities included maintaining the office file server and e-mail system, coordinating the workloads for tech/design staff, input of space studies, presentation drawings, and rental books for building owners.
With regard to AutoCAD - the package used for creating the construction documents - I am well versed in all releases/versions of this software. I have been using AutoCAD since 1985. I am a certified AutoCAD instructor and have taught CAD classes at New York University ( School of Continuing Education ) and Westchester Community College. I am also a Certified AutoCAD Associate (2012) as well as a Certified AutoCAD Professional (2012).
I have created customized menus, lisp programs, script files, and macros with AutoCAD for NELSON, LWC Design Build, SCR Design Organization, some small architectural and engineering firms, and building management companies. With the enhancements to the menu, I have stressed the importance of establishing and maintaining company standards. For those companies I have helped create and define those standards. In addition, I have also created documentation for these enhancements in a web-format package, and have also authored web sites on the Internet.
When working with a Design Build company – the CAD staff had to also create engineering drawings (in-house) in addition to the traditional architectural construction documents. For this, I had to familiarize myself with certain aspects of the engineering disciplines (electrical circuiting, lighting plans, HVAC, plumbing, and sprinkler plans). Once familiar with what was required to be in the drawings, I customized the menu to accommodate those additional elements.
I have a good rapport with people (clients and fellow employees), and in the past I was able to bring new projects to the company I was working for.
I am a self-motivated, well organized person that can think on my feet in a crisis situation. I am not afraid of challenge or problems.
Of late, I have been working as a computer consultant. This involves, file server installation & maintenance, workstation hardware upgrades, Virus & spyware removals, AutoCAD training, AutoCAD Management, AutoCAD customizing, building management rental book maintenance, etc. This work has been with, medical providers, engineering firms, architects and designers, lawyers, accountants, and insurance companies, and real estate management companies.
