Hello. My name is Arah. I graduated from The City College of New York with a Masters degree in Education - with a specialty in English language structure. I attained my Bachelors degree from John Jay College of Criminal Justice and I also gained a Liberal Arts Associates degree from Borough of Manhattan Community College. I am an active member of New York Cares where I volunteer to assist students in improving their English especially students whose first language is not English. I have tutored or volunteered at places such as the Mid-Manhattan Adult learning center, Hostos Community College and the Northern Manhattan Improvement Corpororation.
I am a happy person and I think positive on every level. I tutor purely for the love of helping others get to their individual goals. My tutoring experience started while I myself was a student and I assisted classmates and family members with their assignments and homework. I love to teach English, reading and grammar. My goal for each of my sessions is to keep the student challenged and motivated. I help students structure their ideas and have them express them logically and fluently. I believe that creativity is very important in the learning process and I incorporate both the students' and my creativity to produce genuine results.
I have worked with students who are trying to get into college, adults and newly arrived immigrants trying to improve their English. I can help you think critically, analyze and express your thoughts and ideas. My approach to teaching is very personal and very genuine. I will show you that grammar can be fun and that reading can be soothing. I will be sure to make learning a positive experience for you by being clear and precise.
If you need assistance with improving your English, reading and grammar I will patiently work with you. I am very flexible and will provide you with my full attention. Thank You.
