Dear Students,
I have been a teacher and tutor for over 20 years. For the past 15 years I have worked with foreign students as well as business people to help them learn and practice English. I have worked privately with executives from banking as well as non-profits. I have also taught classes in Columbia University's MBA program as well as with private language institutions.
My own education is a B.A. in English, certificates in French and Italian from the Alliance Francaise, (Paris,) and the Universita per Stranieri, (Perugia, Italy) and a certificate in CELTA language teaching sponsored by Cambridge University.
For the past five years I have been teaching test prep for foreign students. I have taught both the TOEFL and TOEIC test. Some of my students have also prepared for master's programs in the U.S. I have worked with them on the GMAT, GRE, and for undergraduate students, the SAT test. Prior to working with foreign students I tutored American students in English, history, and test prep. In addition to teaching I have written and published four books, numerous short stories, and a play which was produced in New York City.
I speak 3 languages myself (Greek,French, Italian) and understand how difficult it is to master a second language. In my lessons, I use a combination of old fashioned grammar, with free discussion, reading comprehension, and writing. For advanced students I help proofread their essays for college and graduate school applications as well as encourage them to write creatively. I believe strongly that if a student is interested in the material then he/she will accelerate. Boredom equals no learning.
I look forward to working with you.
Constance S.
