I graduated from Wellesley College with a degree in Theatre Studies and a minor in History. I have worked with children ages 6 to 18 for over 6 years in a teaching and tutoring capacity. In particular, I have experience with students from public, private, and home-school backgrounds - I can work within whatever framework your student needs!

I believe in each student's ability to succeed in any given subject. I enjoy discovering a student's preferred methods of learning and tailoring lessons to ensure their continued success. My teaching style revolves around a student's acquisition of material as opposed to a number or score - student driven learning as opposed to teacher lecturing leads to the desired results and the desire to learn, not just achieve one grade once. As teaching is the best way to learn, I ensure that students are able to teach a lesson back to me. Their ability to explain their thought process and problem solve as they teach shows me they are truly grasping the material.

I am always accessible via email or text and I am more than happy to work with students remotely.

Literature

I have extensive academic experience in literature. My relevant areas of expertise include classical, Shakespearean, and modern drama, modern poetry, 20th Century British and American literature, and young adult fiction.

My future plans include a masters in Library Science with a specialty in young adult literature. If my 6 year old students in South San Francisco can understand and act out scenes from Richard II, I can help with any work!

Proofreading

I have 2 years of paid experience in proofreading and editing. I understand how to make a student's work shine through their own writing style while polishing it to perfection.

Theatre

I was a theater major in college and have worked as a theater professional for several years. I have studied acting, directing, and design. My design specialties include costume, set, and lighting. In addition, I have extensive coursework in the study of drama from Aeschylus to Chekhov to Sarah Ruhl. My most recent job in theater was in marketing and house management at the renowned TADA! How do I receive a discount?

Save between 5 and 15% on tutoring by purchasing credit with one of our prepaid discount packages. You can buy one of our standard 5, 10 or 15% packages or customize your own package based on how much tutoring you need. The credit you purchase can be used towards any tutor at any time and does not expire. If you do not use the entire package, we will simply deduct what you did spend on tutoring from your original purchase price and give you a refund. Discount packages start as low as $190.
