I'm a graduate student in Classics at Columbia; I've previously studied Latin at Harvard, and I did my BFA and MA (summa cum laude) in Art History at Pratt Institute. As an undergraduate I earned Departmental Honors while studying abroad in Italy, performing on-site archaeological research in the Roman Forum.
I have also studied Italian language while living for extended periods in Rome and Venice, earning European Language Certification (TELC)–B2 from the well-regarded Scuola Palazzo Malvisi in Ravenna. I'm a certified Teacher of English as a Foreign Language (TEFL), with certification from the Boston Language Institute.
I am also a former employee of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, The Cloisters, Museum of Biblical Art, and was the education director of exhibition programs at The Aldrich Museum in Connecticut, where I designed curricula for fellow educators, taught both large student groups and performed one-on-one student sessions in the galleries.
I absolutely love working with students, and intend to further pursue a career teaching. I have a proven track-record of terrific learning results. In Latin, Greek, and Italian sessions, I custom-tailor interactive teaching to focus on student needs. Often, I find that students contact me when they are having trouble addressing specifically difficult passages– in these cases I design strategic tools specifically for each students' learning style in order to combat these difficulties while maintaining a solid grounding in grammar, syntax, and vocabulary retention. As an art school graduate and museum professional, I often incorporate images or the occasional field trip to see works of art in person as integral learning strategies for language learning. The personality and needs of each student determines the character of my sessions, which I design specifically to maximize learning.
I'm a native New Yorker; I travel between New York and Connecticut frequently. I find that meeting near Columbia is often convenient (Morningside Heights, Upper West Side), but I'm pleased to travel to other neighborhoods in the city and outer boroughs, or outside of the city in Westchester, Connecticut, Long Island, or New Jersey.
