Perry has created visual effects on 6 feature films, directed 2 half-hour animated children's shows, co-authored the best-selling book "Mastering Maya" (Sybex, 2000), created VFX for a film at the American Film Institute (AFI) and just finished his 20th trailer doing Visual Effects and Motion Graphics for Lionsgate. He is a regular beta tester on many Autodesk and Adobe products, has used Maya since before it was ever released as a product (as an Alpha and Beta tester) and he speaks regularly on the subjects of animation and visual effects across the country. In 2007, he moved to Chicago to help start a new college, Flashpoint Academy. He wrote the entire curriculum, Chaired the Animation and Visual Effects department, and taught classes for the 4 and a half years he was there. In 2009, Robert De Niro's Tribeca Enterprises purchased a 50% stake in the school, and renamed it Tribeca Flashpoint Media Arts Academy. Perry left in August of 2011 to return to his home on the East Coast, and explore other opportunities.
Perry is a member of the Visual Effects Society (VES), a non-profit professional, honorary society, dedicated to advancing the arts, sciences, and applications of visual effects and to improving the welfare of its members by providing professional enrichment and education, fostering community, and promoting industry recognition.
