I have many years of full time experience tutoring Math, Physics, Chemistry, SATs and ACTs offering a steady and patient approach to helping my students achieve their academic and professional potential. In math and science I explain challenging concepts with clarity and precision and have taught all levels of Algebra, Trigonometry, Calculus, Physics and Chemistry at the High School, AP and College levels to many dozens of students. In working with students in preparation for the SAT and ACT tests, we go over practice exams and rigorously cover test-taking skills particular to these exams. At the college level I specialize in working with premed students struggling with calculus, physics and chemistry.
Having studied physics at Cornell University, where I graduated Summa Cum Laude, and working in various engineering fields before becoming a tutor, I have a deep understanding of math and science. I know the high school, AP and college/premed math and science curricula intimately, as well as their qualifying examinations.
Most importantly, however, I have broad experience relating to a wide variety of students and developing a relationship of trust and confidence with each student and his or her family. I understand how to help each student solidify their abstract reasoning skills according to their own needs and personality. Together we translate these skills into effective and reliable problem solving techniques. As a result I have retained nearly all of my students for long periods of time and together we have seen dramatically increased grades and exam performance.
