Ivy League Grad, Experienced in SAT, Science and Math Tutoring

I have taught the SATs for over 5 years for various schools and programs, in addition to being a math and science tutor for the last 9 years. I also assist students with developing their study skills, organization and planning, and career discovery. I recently graduated from Cornell University in May 2011 and I am currently enrolled in a pre-medical post baccalaureate program at Hunter College. I plan to go to medical school in two years.

I like to engage students by learning about their interests and then relating material back to these relevant and fun topics. I love to inspire students to follow their dreams, realizing the sky is the limit and education is the rocket propelling them towards success. I encourage students to persevere and to realize that they are making investments in their own learning. I will help students learn that despite the odds, they have the power to control their own destinies and to enjoy learning for learning’s sake. Also, in classroom situations, I differentiate instructions to fit each students' ability level.

I have experience tutoring lower elementary school students at a Charter School for over 3 years. I am also a private tutor for middle school and high school math and science. I am a SAT tutor for several different companies and I am comfortable teaching critical reading, math, and writing lessons to K-12th graders.

Study Skills

Study skills are integrated into every class. Specifically, I will teach students how to make diagrams, flash cards, applied concepts lists, and various other skills for success. I will also teach organization skills, keeping a planner, keeping track of a schedule and syllabus. I have experience teaching group classes as well as private one on one tutoring in science and science State Regents exams. Specifically, I taught Biology, Chemistry, and Math A/B and Algebra Regents courses at a charter school.
