Hi! I have been passionate about reading, writing, and Spanish my entire adult life. I recently graduated from NYU with a degree in English and have also completed a professional certificate program at Hunter College in Spanish/English interpretation and translation. When I was a junior in high school, I spent a year in Paraguay as an exchange student perfecting my Spanish, and I've also spent a lot of time in Peru. I have experience teaching English as Second Language to school children and adults in Peru, and also tutoring students in English as a Second Language, Spanish, and the SAT in New York. I really like tutoring people in languages, because I'm really passionate about the subject, and it gives me an opportunity to share this passion with others. Right now, I'm learning German.
My teaching style, I would like to think at least, is warm, sincere, and straightforward. If you ask me what the answer to a question is, I'm going to tell you what the answer is and explain why, instead of asking you to try to figure it out for yourself (unless you're really close!). Then, we'll try another similar problem to see if you've got it. I always appreciated this type of teaching when I was a student, so I try my best to replicate it. Also, I try to break things down into manageable steps. This helps both in learning languages and in life.
If you need help with any part of the SAT, ESL, Spanish, or writing, contact me and I'd be glad to help you out!
