I have been tutoring students from elementary to college levels in a wide variety of subjects for nearly ten years. Although my main interest lies in English language and literature, reading comprehension, writing composition, and English as a Second Language (ESL), I often find myself tutoring pre-algebra and algebra. On occasion I have also tutored basic high school subjects such as biology, history, and Spanish I and II. Most of my tutoring experience has been one-on-one sessions, but I also taught a classroom full of students when I was an Instructor's Assistant for a college freshman writing course at UCSC.
I completed one semester at Teachers College, Columbia University with straight A's in my TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Langauges) K-12 certification & Masters program, but due to some personal issues I had to move back to Santa Cruz. While I wait to begin my next graduate program in UCSC's Education department, I am seeking tutoring jobs to gain even more teaching/tutoring experience. As a future high school English teacher, I am passionate about teaching and plan on dedicating my life to helping students succeed both inside and out of school.
