I am an experienced, hands-on tutor specializing in all levels of Spanish, AP English Lit, Creative Writing, Theatre History and Performance, and Study Skills as well as SAT Reading and Writing. I have tutored for over nine years in all of these subjects, and have taught two Shakespeare summer courses to high school students ranging in age from 13-18 years old.
I enjoy finding creative ways to help students not only understand their topics, but to also enjoy studying on their own. I have 10 years of experience teaching Spanish. As a fluent Spanish speaker, I love to impart as much cultural knowledge as possible to provide context for the language. This approach provides a deeper understanding for students when they can attach the language directly to the culture, as opposed to it being simply an assignment in a book.
The topics I choose to tutor in most are those that have shaped my life and career choices.
I recently received my Masters in Performance from University of Maryland, College Park. In 2005 I graduated Suma Cum Laude from the University of South Florida with a B.A. in English concentrating in Creative Writing and a B.A. in Theatre Performance. Afterwards I spent a year in Atlanta, GA as an apprentice for The Horizon Theatre in Little Five Points. I also taught Spanish in day cares to children from 18 months to 5 years-old through an interactive program called Lango for Kids.
