I enjoy tutoring because I enjoy working one-on-one with students. I find that building a relationship with students and discovering their unique learning strengths and weaknesses is the best way to tutor. It has been my experience that a student can learn best when he/she understands how he/she can best learn.
I first began to tutor at an after school center. There I was able to work with students who had challenging learning needs. I greatly enjoyed my time there because I was able to work with students who were not typically given personal academic attention. It was there that I discovered my love for tutoring and found that all students can improve when they are given the tools to do so.
I received my bachelor's degree in journalism at Azusa Pacific University. I am currently pursuing my master's at Parsons The New School for design. I have tutored elementary school students in history, math and reading. I also have experience tutoring middle school students in American and world history. Due to my after school tutoring experience, I have learned to adapt my tutoring techniques to a variety of student's specific needs and subjects.
I also have writing and editing experience from being an editor of my university's student paper and an editor for my university's literary magazine. I was also the student body president for my university which has given me the tools of patience and leadership among many other thing. Education is important to me and I hope to help students succeed in their educational goals.
