8x+6=4x+26

First, you want to get all the variables you are trying to solve for on one side
 so subtract 4x from both side

8x+6=4x+26

-4x      -4x

That leaves you with

4x+6=26 (because 4x-4x=0 so that term is eliminated)

Next, subtract six from both sides

4x+6=26

    -6   -6

That leaves 4X=20 (again, 6-6=0 so that term is eliminated)

Now divide the whole thing by 4 and get X=5

If we assume that Nataliya is right and the question is

(4x - 12) / (x2 + 4x - 21)

We can simplify it like so

(2x-3.46)/(x+2x-4.58): This takes the square root of your original equation

I'm going to give you an example of stem-and leaf plotting.

Suppose that you have a data set that's as follows:

x={1, 2, 4, 5, 11, 15, 19, 20}

The stem (left side), is the first digit of the data. The leaf (right side) is the second digit. So plotting the above data set on a stem and leaf plot will result in the following

0   | 1, 2, 4, 5

1   | 1, 5, 9

2   | 0

The idea is that by looking at it this way you can get an idea of where most of the data lies. Here you can see that most of it is in the single digits and that as the numbers go up there are fewer of them.

Negative 4p to the 4th power is 256 p. -4 *-4*-4*-4=256.
