Are you nervous about using a computer? Not sure of all those things people are talking about when they talk about the computer using words like "apps", "OS" and other fancy sounding names? Then I am the one who will help you sort it out, simply & without 'techy-sounding' computer geek terms that can be confusing for everyday folks to understand.
You don't have to be a nerd, geek, or worry about being too old, or too young...everyone can learn how to use the computer to type a letter, send a picture in an email, or put a favorite CD on the computer. If you have family members who are saying to you "..if you had email, you would see more pictures of us..." but you don't know where to begin, contact me.
I have helped many people improve their computer skills during my employ as a Receptionist Supervisor. Having to work with a group of people of varying ages, backgrounds, levels of knowledge was indeed a challenge, but successfully showing them how to be more productive was a great experience. Not only did they realize there was more to the computer than online games, but their abilities to use Word saved them time in typing letters and creating other documents. One person was still using a typewriter - but after a few lessons, he saw the benefit and ease the PC gave him to create letters more professionally. I even showed him how to send photographs using email and explained how to safely navigate the Internet.
There are only 4 things that I require of anyone I tutor:
1) you have to have a PC(Windows)computer/laptop.
2) be willing to learn - I can teach almost anyone, except the "I know" person, so if you know it already, then please choose another tutor.
3) Practice - if you are not practicing, how are you going to be good at it?
4) Have fun with the skills that you are learning, and be prepared to not even remember the time when you couldn't do it!
When you explain what you want to accomplish, you will have to meet that deadline - homework and/or quizzes may be given to see if you are really practicing...not the traditional kind of quiz, but a hands-on 'do it' quiz/homework. So if you want to learn without all of that technical-talk, I'm the tutor for you...NYC area only please. All lessons are conducted in English.
