My name is Steve. I am 36 years old. I've been playing guitar for over 20 years and have been teaching for the past 10 years. I am old enough to be well versed in music and still young enough to be on top of today's sounds. I have a BA in Music and play lead guitar in the NYC rock band "Man on Earth."
The guitar is in my hands every day. It's not a hobby of mine. It's what I do for a living. I teach for Teacher Tone Music here in NYC and also at the Fraioli School of Music in Riverside CT. I have students of all ages and skill levels. I have created lesson plans to get the student up and going in no time. They are designed to be fun and at the same time they are pertinent building blocks to becoming a skilled guitarist. I know how important it is to form the correct hand position early on. By studying from me, the student will learn the proper way to play so they won't run into trouble down the road.
I also know what the kids are playing these days. I am constantly transcribing songs and teaching them to the students. Many of my students eventually branch off and begin writing their own music. I then like to assist them in their work. I help shape their songs and give suggestions as to why certain chords would work. I have written many songs in the rock band setting and have also composed my own solo pieces on the classical guitar. I am proficient in reading and writing in both notation and tablature.
Do I think I am qualified to help shape your son or daughter into a skilled musician? I certainly do.
If you have any questions please let me know. I look forward to speaking with you.
