"What a child can do today with assistance, she will be able to do by herself tomorrow." Powerful words from child development psychologist Lev Vygotsky. A statement that I truly believe in. The reason I feel, that with the proper tools, your child can overcome their academic challenges.
Over the last eight years of my teaching career, I have seen how much more progress a child makes through small group instruction over whole class teaching. All students have the ability to learn, though some may require more support than others. Setting clear and obtainable goals combined with one on one tutoring provides the support that is vital for your child's success.
By working with your child, I will identify their areas of strengths and challenges. Each session will be catered to specific skills, so that your child can overcome those areas of difficulty. Strictly aligning learning objectives to the New York State and Common Core Standards will aide in your child's academic success. In addition, lessons are structured in a way that is appealing to children by combining my background education in the fields of literacy and technology.
As an elementary student, school came "easy" for me. However, high school math did not provide me with the same experience. Once I received my first report card, my parents got me the support I needed. After just one session with my tutor, I could feel my math skills improving. Through weekly tutoring sessions and the new academic confidence it gave me, I was ultimately successful in the class. It is my hope that I will get the opportunity to work with your child so that they too can feel the academic success that I experienced.
