I am an honors graduate of the Gallatin School of Individualized Study at New York University with a concentration in the Sociology of Music. I maintained a 3.93 GPA and graduated in the top 5% of my class. My relevant experience includes 2 years as the head music faculty at Congregation Ahavath Shalom in Fort Worth, TX, production experience with Sesame Street Workshop, and 1 year as a professional tutor. I am particularly knowledgeable in the areas of language arts, study skills / time management, and literature.
My approach to tutoring centers on a philosophy of detailed observation, patience, and encouragement. It is my belief that most students struggle not because they are incapable of learning a subject, but because of a fundamental learning disconnect between teacher and student. In other words, we all have different "learning styles". What starts as a simple issue of learning difference can, over time, lead to a self-perpetuating environment of low self-confidence and frustration. I take the time to adapt my teaching style to each students' needs so that they feel comfortable and self-assured. Not only do my students achieve success in the classroom, they gain the confidence that comes from genuinely understanding their academic pursuits.
I hope to hear from you!
