I have taught in middle school, high school, and university classrooms, but I've found that nothing gives me as much joy as working one-on-one with a student. I have students that I have been working with for years, and getting to watch them progress and mature has been an amazing experience. My favorite story, in fact, was beginning to work with a sixth grade girl who hated math and insisted she would never be able to do it. By eighth grade, she was placed in honors algebra and told her family math was her favorite subject.
My greatest skill is always being able to find another way to explain a problem or concept. Every student learns in his or her own way, and I am great at finding exactly how to best reach a student--no matter how many times it takes. I've worked with top students striving to get those last few points, and I've worked with struggling students just trying to stay above water. I have a great sense of humor and I try to make math as enjoyable as possible (I mean, I love it, but not everyone's as much of a nerd as I am).
I've scored perfect SAT and GRE scores; I have tutored many, many students into drastic improvements of their scores. (I'm great at tutoring ACT as well, although I have not officially taken it). I have tutored students on all parts of both tests as well as the SAT II math tests, both I and II (although, I'm sad to say, I only got a 790 on the Math II).
I look forward to hearing from you--whether it's for a one-time essay or test prep session or ongoing work together, you won't be disappointed!
