Innovative Fine Art, AP Studio Art and Portfolio Development Tutor

I am a high school art teacher with four years of experience teaching and over 20 years experience as a professional creative director in advertising and marketing. I am certified to teach fine arts and Advanced Placement Studio Art. I have already assisted several of my art students with their applications and portfolios for art colleges and for after school and weekend art programs as well.

I am capable of teaching 2D and 3D art through a wide range of fine arts mediums and techniques including; painting (watercolor, acrylic), printmaking, drawing (pencil, charcoal, pen and ink, color pencils, oil and chalk pastels), sculpture (clay, paper mache, found objects, paper, cardboard), graphic design (composition/layout,typography, Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop). In addition, and equally as important, I teach the elements and principles of art (line, shape, color theory, form, and composition) which is essential to an enriched and well developed learning experience and portfolio.

My tutoring approach is relative to the individual needs and learning style of each student with emphasis on helping you to identify and develop your creative process (thinking) while using art reference materials, demonstration and hands-on projects to complete a lesson. Students must be willing to relax and be open to learn through exploration and innovation. I will not do assignments/projects or jobs for you but I will give you the skills, insight and confidence to complete them on your own.

Microsoft PowerPoint

I have been making PowerPoint presentations for over 15 years and have used them to teach classes as stand-alone marketing presentations as well as to supplement presentations.

My instruction will include the basics: adding text, images and special effects and because my background is in graphic design, I can provide tips and tricks on formatting and overall design of a PowerPoint presentation.

Proofreading

I have several years' experience in professional proofreading with an advertising agency that placed extremely expensive ads with complex copy in international and national print and online publications. Adobe Photoshop

I have taught students from age 12 to adult how to use Adobe Photoshop. I use it daily in my own work as an image editor for the web, presentations and commercial printing. I can teach use of the basic tools for editing and originating artwork, provide resources for imagery, and facilitate continued exploration specific to a student's personal style and use as well as provide guidance in plagiarism (a very very important topic relative to this software).

Drawing

I have years of experience teaching basic drawing skills to high school students and I am also a professional illustrator. My fortes are drawing people and architectural drafting.
