Vivian graduated from Indiana University in Bloomington with a double major in journalism and Chinese. Though she was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois, Vivian has been bitten by the travel bug. She has worked in three different countries (the U.S., China, and the U.K.) and has plans to one day travel the world. In addition to traveling, Vivian's interests range from cooking to graphic design to animals. She moved to Princeton in June to work full-time at a non-profit education consulting firm and has been exploring the East Coast in her free time.
Hired by a local tutoring center in Chicago, Vivian has been tutoring since her sophomore year of high school. Throughout college, she has tutored young children, college students and even visiting scholars from other countries. While she was in China for her semester abroad, she took on the task of teaching two classes of Chinese college students, prepping them for the TOEFL - an exam required of all foreign students who wish to study in the United States.
Her teaching style is relaxed and flexible. Depending on a student's strengths and weaknesses, Vivian tries to tailor all her lessons to help her students get the most out of each lesson. Because she knows that memorizing facts and figures may not always be fun, she always tries to relate the content at hand to something relevant or interesting to her students. Otherwise, a cheesy joke or a funny story once in a while also almost always works to keep the lesson fun!
