My name is Caroline, and I am a junior at Barnard College of Columbia University. I have been tutoring students in history and Latin for four years, as well as editing English essays. My strengths in history are American and European – I received a five on the AP US History exam, and will gladly help high school students prepare for it. In English, I excel at teaching grammar and analysis of literature. I have been learning Latin for nine years, and have taken classes at the graduate level at Columbia.
I am a double major in English and Anthropology with a specialization in Archaeology and a minor in Latin.
I spent this last summer working in Peru on a brand new archaeological site, occupied by the Incans more than 400 years ago. This has given me a solid grounding in the newest archaeological technology and techniques, with a particular focus on architectural analysis and area mapping. Any student interested in pursuing Archaeology in the future would benefit from a discussion with me about this academic track.
As a younger tutor, I understand the problems that high school students currently face in their education. This puts me in a better position to help them overcome their fears about testing, essay writing, and reading.
As a college student, my only means of transportation is the subway or bus, therefore I limit my travel area to within Manhattan, and limited areas in the outer boroughs. Thank you for your understanding.
I look forward to hearing from you!
