After a number of years as an investment banker and securities analyst, I wanted to make a career change. I considered a number of alternatives, but it made the most sense to apply my knowledge and experience in finance in a new way. Teaching seemed a logical choice.

I explored the world of tutoring just like most students who seek tutors - I searched the Internet. After meeting just a few students, I found I had a knack for teaching. My students were not only getting better grades, they were beginning to enjoy their classes. I am hooked!

I have trained many analysts and others in finance, accounting and economics for the purposes of improving work performance and in passing professional licensing exams. My firm also has had several interns for whom I served as project advisor for their academic credit. Topics included microeconomics and macroeconomics as well as the principals of economics often required for an undergraduate degree. In the field of finance, I am proficient in valuation methodologies, financial accounting, managerial finance, corporate finance, fixed income analysis and equity securities analysis. In the accounting field I can cover principals and intermediate accounting as well as financial statement analysis and financial accounting.

Accounting

I have completed approximately twenty hours of undergraduate and graduate level accounting course work in intermediate, managerial and financial accounting. Knowledge of the principals of accounting are a critical element of my work as a securities analyst. I am a member of the NYSSA Corporate Reporting Committee, which has provided a convenient platform to remain current on changes in Generally Accepted Accounting Principals.

Economics

My major as an undergraduate was economics, including microeconomics, macroeconomics and international economics. Additionally, I have a master of business administration with an emphasis on international business and trade, which included a strong economics element. Third, I am a holder of the Charter for Financial Analysts, which requires knowledge of economics as applied to financial decision making.

Finance

My experience includes over twenty years as an investment banker and securities analyst, during which I have used the principals of finance in a variety of investment decisions. I have considerable experience in successful exam preparation and passage in the financial profession, including the GMAT, CFA Exams and FINRA licensure exams. I attribute this success to an efficient and effective preparation approach and to highly focused strategies for exam execution.

Business

As the founder of an independent securities research firm, I have personal experience with the challenges that face entrepreneurs. I can help with developing a business plan for the purpose of raising capital, analyzing financial statements to improve profitability, among other important business functions.
