Lisa, an accomplished writer, and instructor, completed her Bachelor of Arts degree in English and Anthropology, and graduated summa cum laude from SUNY at Buffalo. She then earned a Master’s Degree in English with honors from Columbia University and completed most of her doctoral credits on full academic scholarship. She also won a NY Times Foundation scholarship to NYU Writer’s Conference.
Lisa has taught writing, critical thinking, film and literature on the college and university level for more than 15 years, working with all levels of students. While teaching, she also tutored for private test prep companies in California and at UCLA. Her expertise is test preparation and interdisciplinary writing and literature. She has very successful experience with the SAT (Verbal and literature), GRE, and GMAT. She’s also worked with students crafting persuasive college and professional school admissions essays. Her students have been admitted to many prestigious and selective universities, including Harvard, Stanford, Berkeley, UCLA, NYU and Georgetown University. She has also had some remarkable, quick and dramatic results, boosting students' test scores on standardized tests by 100-150 points on one section in as few as three or four sessions. In addition, Lisa successfully worked with students revising doctoral dissertations and Master’s essays in multiple disciplines - including political science and applied mathematics, worked with adults sharpening their business and non-fiction writing skills, and helped students with college-level essays in the humanities, social sciences, and applied mathematics. She even helped an attorney pass the Bar exam (analytical writing).
Lisa is a magazine writer, researcher and editor. She has had more than 55 publications including several in prominent magazines like Wine Enthusiast and Art in America and also writes promotional materials and biographical articles. As a researcher for a very prominent political strategist, she had the opportunity to contribute to two published books published on politics and international relations.
Lisa studied classical piano as a child at Juilliard School of Music. She continues her professional development and has completed numerous classes in education, film, creative writing, journalism, public relations writing, and more recently, college algebra and lifespan psychology at NYU, UCLA, and Hunter College (3.7+ gpa).
