I am a native Italian professional language and diction instructor living in NYC for professional reasons. I was born and raised in Italy, I studied there and still live there part of the year. I have a background in Latin, Ancient Greek, Italian Language and Literature, and above all music and theater (Opera, specifically).
I have more than 5 years of experience as an Italian language and diction instructor, profession that I have successfully performed for important Italian institutions such as the Teatro Comunale in Bologna as well as, more recently, for several different companies in New York City.
I recently also became a professional interpreter and translator for an international translations company based in NYC.
Here's what some of my employers think about my work:
“I am pleased to recommend Sara G. as an instructor in the Italian language. Ms. G., a well-trained Opera singer and budding stage director, was engaged by Chelsea Opera in 2010 to coach our singers in preparation for a full production of Mozart’s “Le Nozze di Figaro”. She did so with enthusiasm and never waivered when faced with blatant American vowels in several of the singers.
What became even more valuable was her native ability to explain why a character said something in such a way, or when a word or phrase had more than one meaning in its particular context. This deeper understanding of the language gave the singers the ability to present a fully rounded character, beyond the obvious.
Ms. G. worked tirelessly to coach a cast of 14 principal singers. Word from the singers was that they enjoyed working with her as well.”
