I am not an ordinary college student, and therefore I am not an ordinary tutor! Although in high school I loved learning, having tutored fellow students in subjects like math and English, a lack of mentors and preparation led me to under-perform on standardized tests and in my first year of college. I left school disillusioned with the educational system and explored success in a career path instead.
For the last nine years, I have worked for non-profit organizations, teaching activism and civic engagement to people from diverse backgrounds. My strengths are in facilitation and one-on-one skill building. I have also worked on two Presidential campaigns and am self-taught in public speaking, community organizing, and international relations.
I have now re-found my love of learning and am proud to be finishing my degree with high marks at Columbia University, where I am challenged and inspired by the academic rigor and strong sense of community. I also love the arts, having studied theater, music, and dance growing up. New York City is my home and I love enjoying life here to the fullest!
I look forward to working with you and your child on your tutoring needs. I have a flexible schedule and can tutor a variety of students in diverse subjects, including math, Spanish, writing, and SAT prep. My goal is to empower you with skills and confidence, but most importantly, make learning fun!
