My love of teaching comes from a lifelong love of learning. As a summa cum laude graduate, I know that hard work and dedication to learning can pay off. I specialize in tutoring math and English for success in school and on the SAT, GED, GRE, GMAT, and the NYS Regents exams. Whether we are working on high school geometry proofs or GRE vocabulary, one of my goals for each session is to keep the student challenged, but not overwhelmed. I assign challenging homework after every lesson, and provide periodic assessments and progress reports.

I hold myself to a high standard. For that reason, I often ask for feedback, and I never bill for a lesson in which the student or parent is not completely satisfied with my tutoring.

I try to be flexible with time. While I do have a 24-hour cancellation policy, I offer makeup classes.

To ensure that students have a quiet and comfortable study space in which to work with me, I have a tutoring office in midtown Manhattan, where I teach private lessons and group classes. However, I am happy to travel to another location if that is more convenient for the student.

Geometry

Geometry is my favorite math subject and I love not only helping struggling students succeed in geometry, but also instilling in them the same passion for the subject. I have over three years of experience tutoring geometry for elementary school through high school. The subjects I cover include area, perimeter, volume, surface area, lines and angles, polygons, triangles, circles, geometry proofs and logic, coordinate geometry, and trigonometry.

Statistics

In college, I took several statistics courses from basic to advanced and got As in all of them. If you are planning to take an introductory course in statistics or quantitative reasoning, I can help you get a head start and make sure you don't fall behind as the class progresses. SAT Math

I tutor for the math section of the SAT, as well as the SAT Math Level 1 and Level 2 subject tests. I use the most recent test prep books, online resources, and my own material. One of my recent SAT students improved her scores by 70 points after 8 tutoring sessions with me.

GRE

I tutor for the entire GRE test, but most students come to me for help on the math section. I share with my students the GRE test-taking strategies I used to score in the 99th percentile, but I also focus on making sure the student has a solid foundation in the core math and English concepts tested.

GED

One of my most frequently requested exams is the GED, so I have a great deal of experience tutoring for this test. I am qualified to tutor every section of the GED, and I focus on teaching the core math and verbal concepts tested, as well as proven test-taking strategies and time management skills that help students finish quickly and accurately.

Elementary (K-6th)

I have 3 years of experience providing private tutoring for children in preschool through 6th grade. I also have 1 year of experience teaching weekly ESL group classes for 5th and 6th graders through an English school based in Manhattan.

I have been tutoring for the ISEE (all three levels) for about 3 years with great results. Since I specialize in both math and English tutoring, I can tutor for all sections of this test. With every lesson, I don't just teach to the test, but strive to improve the student's core skills in reading, writing, math, and reasoning. However, I do share my best test-taking strategies and encourage students to use them, because I feel they help develop reasoning ability.
