College Counseling
Throughout my educational career - at the high school and university level - I have counseled students when they, as current college students, needed to organize themselves to transfer to a better university or apply for a graduate school program; at the high school level, I have assisted hundreds of students in navigating the college application process. I currently offer a course called College Quest, where I help both students and their parents understand how to frame the college quest, organize their paperwork, pick a potential major, and prioritize their applications. I do this professionally using my vast experience with students who are sometimes unsure about which are the crucial question they need to pose to themselves as they begin this quest.
Literature
I have a PhD in literature and creative writing. I can discuss any genre of texts for its content (the school house literary elements) and as an formal object of discourse.
Public Speaking
It is unbelievable. More people are afraid of public speaking than death itself. However, every organization – private, public, profit, or not-for-profit – hungers for employees who can stand up and champion that organization’s products and ideas.
Excellent public speaking skills are a low cost, soft innovation to your professional or academic skill set that can lead to great rewards. It will set you apart from your peers in both professional and social settings. And, learning these skills is far more simple than you may imagine.
I have extensive experience in teaching public speaking, not only in the classroom, but also in the workplace. If you allow me, I can teach you solid, basic skills and “hacks” (as computer gamers call them) to improve your oral presentation skills immediately. I will teach you how to write and revise your speech, build an effective PowerPoint, and rehearse your presentation in just a few hours of teaching time.
Let me coach you so you can master the boardroom or the classroom
