My name is Megan, and I am so excited about the opportunity to tutor! I have a Ph.D. in Psychology, with a minor in Statistics. I have extensive experience teaching and tutoring at the college level. I have taught psychology, statistics, study skills, writing, and other various subjects at the college level for the past five years. I also have experience tutoring elementary, middle school, and high school aged students as well. Given my background, I have written and published several journal articles as well as served as an expert editor and reviewer for scholarly journals. Thus, I have a very strong writing background and can teach writing mechanics, grammar, style, reading, etc. Additionally, because I have a Ph.D. in Psychology, I am able to approach tutoring with a psychological approach designed to reduce anxiety and increase confidence in students. This method has helped raise several of my students' grades from Ds and Fs to As and Bs.
Throughout my academic career, I have always loved learning and teaching others what I have learned. Most importantly, I have a passion for teaching. From tutoring my own siblings to tutoring children at the Boys and Girls Club to teaching college-level courses and tutoring college students, I love helping explain materials in new ways that will truly help the student understand the material.
I have such a passion for teaching! I would love the opportunity to open up the world of learning for students. I know how frustrating learning can be at times, but with patience and often multiple explanations, it can be very rewarding.
