I have a BA in Psychology from New York University (2006) and completed a post-baccalaureate program in the pre-med sciences at Hunter College. I also have a Master's degree in Counseling.
I have been tutoring for over 10 years. My subjects include Psychology, English, Writing, ACT and SAT prep (all sections), Math (pre-Algebra, Algebra 1 and 2, Geometry), Biology, Chemistry, Study Skills, and general K-12 subjects. Additionally, I tutor writing skills, and college/graduate admissions (including applications and personal statements). I have had proven success in all the aforementioned subjects and can provide references upon request. I have worked with students in the Middle School, High School and College levels. I am reasonable and flexible for most afternoon and weekend hours. I can do group tutoring as well as individual tutoring, depending on the subject and situation.
My approach to tutoring is very simple: figure out the student's learning style, assess strengths and weaknesses and tailor a program to the individual. My goal with tutoring is to make the student confident and comfortable with the material and to put myself out of a job. I also make myself available to the student and parents to address any issues or concerns that may arise. I work largely in Manhattan and Northern New Jersey, and have my own reliable transportation.
