I recently graduated from the CUNY York College with a Bachelor of Arts in English and a concentration in Writing, magna cum laude. During my tenure at York, I actively contributed articles to the school's monthly newspaper, Pandora's Box, while editing the papers of my colleagues through the university's Writing Center. Working for the Writing Center provided me a unique opportunity to engage and collaborate with writers from different academic backgrounds-including Accounting, Finance, and the Sciences. This position required me to determine the needs and goals of each writer in bringing their projects to fruition. During my senior year, The York Scholar, the school's academic journal, published my research paper on the reading habits of internet users in relation to their exposure to digital technologies and media, a six-week process that taught me the drafting and editing procedures necessary to produce a published work.
Since graduating, I have continued freelancing editing jobs for friends and colleagues. I am also working interning in Scholastic's marketing department, reviewing and producing press-releases, product descriptions, brand proposals, and researching competitive properties. I am also getting together a thirty page writing sample for my graduate school M.F.A. applications in creative writing. I have tutored students in both high school and in college, and look forward to continuing to help students develop their reading and writing skills as I work to become a teacher, something that has always been my passion.
