I am a former Wall Street quant with degrees in Math, Computer Science and Finance. I have been tutoring since my days on the Math Team at Stuyvesant HS. I was a high school teacher for a brief time and, more recently, I taught Probability and Statistics at Stony Brook University for a few years, where I received the President's Award for Excellence in Teaching.
I believe that learning mathematics is about understanding important concepts, not memorizing a bunch of formulas, and that obtaining the right answer is less important than trying to understand a problem and devising a method to solve it, even if that method isn't what the teacher is looking for.
