Hi, my name is Lisa and I am interested in helping you or your child excel. I believe that tutoring not only improves grades, it build self esteem and confidence in one's ability to learn. Those benefits alone are reason enough to start tutoring today. As they say, with practice makes perfect.
My three years of tutoring experience has enhanced my abilities as a teacher. I develop a relationship with each of my students, so that he or she can trust in my ability to teach the material in his or her individualized learning style. Each student feels comfortable asking questions and alerting me when they do not understand the material. Everyone has the capability to be a great student. Finding the particular style which a student grasps the material best is the most effective way to ensure that the time studying and learning is worthwhile. I have taught K-10th grade students of all capabilities include those with learning disabilities. Most of my experience is in math, English and writing. However, I have the ability to pick up most material quickly and can teach the other subjects I have listed. My specialty is teaching students how to write great essays and papers.That is a very important skill that each child needs to become a great overall student. My experience as a school counselor is also beneficial to those who would like my expertise applying to college or navigating school issues. I have had many happy parents and students who by the end of tutoring, have seen great improvement.
