Hello! My name is Kirsandra, but everyone calls me Kizzy. I graduated from Stony Brook University where I studied Music, and was trained classically in voice. During my time there I was a student athlete, having 'walked on' to the soccer team. After college I spent time coaching as an assistant in the LIJS, and now I am the Head Women's Coach at Concordia College.

I have also spent time in the field of teaching. I taught for 2 years at a private school in East Patchogue, NY. I taught English 4-8th, and that included vocabulary, writing, and grammar. I had to prepare the class for the ELA State exams at the end of the year, so I am familiar with state standards. I also have had the advantage of learning from great teachers, and from my students.

I have dabbled in a lot of areas, and am very versatile. I love working with children, I am a youth pastor in my church, and also the music ministry director. I am excited by the prospect of helping children learn, and receive joy when I see a child do well and get excited because they see that they have made progress. I believe everyone has the potential to learn, if they are willing, and put their all into what they do, and are guided with patience and proficiency.

Grammar

Simple help in grammar and learning basic rules; parts of speech, verb agreement, capitalization, punctuation, different types of sentences, and much more.

Reading

It is very difficult to do well when you are not a good reader. There are many tools used to help a child improve reading fluency and ability. Understanding simple concepts, such as main idea, fact verse opinion, connecting ideas, and much more, are key factors in aiding your child's development. I offer that help.

Music Theory

Teach the basics of music theory, and give children an understanding of basic musical ideas and concepts.

Writing

I offer help in teaching students fundamental techniques to help improve writing. This includes organizational aide, building language foundations, improving vocabulary, grammar correction, and much more.

Voice (Music)

I studied classical voice in Stony Brook University. I am a lyrical Soprano, and have performed arias and songs in German, French, English, and Italian.

I spent a couple of months with a jazz group, Soul Food Jazz, and gained experience singing background vocals for the saxophonist, Dwayne Johnson, Jr.

As an athlete at Stony Brook University, I had the advantage of playing soccer at a Division I college for four years. During those four years I deepened my understanding of the game and the technical aspects as well.
