ACT Math
I am a New York State Certified in Math 7-12, and I have many years of experience tutoring students for all types of exams.
ADD/ADHD
First, I hold NYS certification in two areas covering grades 1-12. My teaching experience includes children with special needs; among them is students with ADD/ADHD. As a classroom teacher and substitute, I have had all types of students in both inclusion settings, 15:1, and 8:1:1. As a home tutor, I have worked one-on-one with ADD/ADHD and other children with special needs. Additionally, I am currently pursuing a third certification in Special Education, and already taken a class in Learning Disabilities which has given me strategies to help teach these children.
I myself am organized and detailed, and have helped many, many students improve their own ability to organize! This is often an area of weakness for children with Learning Disabilities.
Algebra 2
I am a very resourceful, creative professional with a wealth of experience and great love of teaching young people. Fluent in Spanish, highly articulate and flexible. I have had great success tutoring high school kids and helping them do well on the Regents Exams! I hold NYS teaching certification in several areas including Math 7-12.

Aspergers
My substitute teaching experience has provided me with many opportunities to be in classroom situations with these children. As a home tutor, I have tutored children "on the spectrum." Additionally, I am currently pursuing New York State certification in special education, and am taking courses and workshops on learning disabilities and autism.
Clarinet
I am a graduate of the Crane School of Music of SUNY Potsdam. Clarinet was my major instrument. I hold a degree in music education and NYS permanent certification in Music K-12, and I have had students for over 30 years. My students score exceedingly well at NYSSMA festivals and usually gain entrance into All-County bands. My most recent clarinet student scored a 96 on a Level 5 solo at NYSSMA this spring!
Elementary (K-6th)
My many years of teaching experience include elementary students. As a music teacher, several of my positions included classes and musical organizations with students in grades K-6. As a substitute teacher and home tutor, I have helped a great many students in these grades achieve success in all of their subjects. I am able to help students be organized and systematic in addition to helping with the subject matter.
Elementary Math
I am a certified math teacher with many years of teaching experience. I have tutored many elementary school students, with wonderful results. Being articulate, creative and organized is helpful, as is the rapport I am able to establish with the kids. Fluency in Spanish has come in handy too!! Se habla español!
Piano
I am a graduate of the Crane School of Music, SUNY Potsdam, and am certified by NYS to teach music grades K-12. I majored in piano for my last 2 years of undergraduate work, and have taught instrumental music and piano privately for about 30 years. I also have many years of experience teaching in public schools, and I have taught piano in the context of general music programs.
Regents
All High School students in New York State must pass Regents exams in Algebra 1, Geometry and Algebra 2. I am certified by New York State to teach High School Mathematics for grades 7 - 12. This certification means that I have taken the appropriate courses and have passed the New York State content area exam including these subjects, as well as calculus, statistics, etc. I have 10 years of experience in tutoring students in these areas. Additionally, I have WyzAnt certification in Algebra 1, Algebra 2 and Geometry. I have been very successful in helping students understand the concepts and formulas they need to pass their state exams!
Study Skills
I am excellent at helping students get organized, I am strong in most subjects, and am very effective at communicating to students what they need to do to complete their assignments and pass their tests! I have many years of experience tutoring students at elementary through high school level.
TEAS
I have New York State teaching certification. I am proficient and/or certified in most areas that appear on the TEAS, and believe I can help students preparing to take them!
