I am a recent undergraduate with a Cum Laude degree in Cultural Anthropology.
My pedagogy is based upon holistic approaches to problem solving and critical thinking. I have been tutoring for all skill levels, ages and demographics for 7 years in a range of subjects in the humanities. From Basic Composition, English, History, Literature, Critical Reading and Writing, and other advanced courses, I have not only become a successful teacher of comprehension and understanding, but have learned a great deal about different styles of tutoring from my students. Democratic in nature, I stylize my tutoring by allowing students to articulate major and minor problem areas with deductive reasoning tactics to properly evaluate the core of an issue. I am reasonably disciplinary and have high expectations for my students that are rational for the sort of growth I wish for my tutorees. Nevertheless, my criticisms and critiques of a student's performance will always be based upon unconditional fairness and permit students to have healthy and engaged dialogue with their tutor that will also influence the larger mentoring relationship that develops throughout tutoring sessions. My personality consists of overt ambition, passion, dedication, facetious humor, patient curiosity, and active listening and learning. I am a quick learner and always seek opportunities to challenge my immediate capabilities with tasks that require me to multi-task, collaborate with others, and step outside the box of my comfort zone. I am also visual thinker, artist and listener. If my students find difficulty in expressing themselves through conventional rhetoric, I am able to transcend art, music, or any other abstract form of expression into new ways of communication. And most importantly, I want my students to learn that knowledge is FUN.
