I have a deep, intense love affair with humanity. I cherish loved ones and strangers alike. I savor every opportunity I have to connect with people. It is this passion alone that fuels all of my other passions. What does this have to do with tutoring? I believe that a solid connection between tutor and tutee is more important than anything else. We learn best when we feel most comfortable. We learn best when we know we're being heard but not judged. We learn best when we feel that our teacher is rooting for us. We learn best when we feel a connection with the person who is facilitating the learning. And while I also believe I'm a stellar tutor due to my work ethic, my Everest-steep learning curve, my right brain abounding with creativity, and the personal library that is my brain, I actually take pride in my devotion to connecting with people more than anything else.
If you're curious about my credentials, allow me to give you a little background right now. I graduated from one of the top liberal arts schools in the country, Davidson College, in 2009 with a BA in Theatre
. Since graduating, I've managed my own blog for five years, and for which I've written a collection of both researched articles and imaginative anecdotes married with my personal culinary creations. I have experience in freelance writing
for green living and cooking
websites. I am published in a national magazine for an extensively researched piece about the Coton de Tulear dog breed. I currently run my own business
, in which I coach business-minded individuals in the delivery of pitches, presentations, and speeches. Lastly, I am a working actress and comedienne. You'll notice I primarily tutor in subjects relating to English
. This is because my fascination with language
has been a part of my life for long enough to instill in me a somewhat obsessive eye for grammar
, as well as a knack for creative wording. However, with a liberal arts education, I am confident tutoring in many other subjects beyond language, too.
If you have any questions for me, please do not hesitate to reach out. I sincerely hope to connect with you soon.
