I have a deep, intense love affair with humanity. I cherish loved ones and strangers alike. I savor every opportunity I have to connect with people. It is this passion alone that fuels all of my other passions. What does this have to do with tutoring? I believe that a solid connection between tutor and tutee is more important than anything else. We learn best when we feel most comfortable. We learn best when we know we're being heard but not judged. We learn best when we feel that our teacher is rooting for us. We learn best when we feel a connection with the person who is facilitating the learning. And while I also believe I'm a stellar tutor due to my work ethic, my Everest-steep learning curve, my right brain abounding with creativity, and the personal library that is my brain, I actually take pride in my devotion to connecting with people more than anything else.

If you're curious about my credentials, allow me to give you a little background right now. I graduated from one of the top liberal arts schools in the country, Davidson College, in 2009 with a BA in Theatre. Since graduating, I've managed my own blog for three years, and for which I've written a collection of both researched articles and imaginative anecdotes married with my personal culinary creations. I have experience in freelance writing and editing for green living and cooking websites. I am published in a national magazine for an extensively researched piece about the Coton de Tulear dog breed. I currently run my own business, in which I coach business-minded individuals in the delivery of pitches, presentations, and speeches. Lastly, I am a working actress and comedienne. You'll notice I primarily tutor in subjects relating to English. This is because my fascination with language has been a part of my life for long enough to instill in me a somewhat obsessive eye for grammar and spelling, as well as a knack for creative wording. However, with a liberal arts education, I am confident tutoring in many other subjects beyond language, too.

If you have any questions for me, please do not hesitate to reach out. I sincerely hope to connect with you soon.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Cooking

I learned how to cook from the best: my mother. Though she has no restaurant of her own, she certainly has a massive following. She is 100% Italian and bestowed upon me the most basic, traditional cooking wisdoms. As my interest in cooking grew, I branched out to train myself in other cooking styles: Allergen-free (gluten, dairy, eggs, etc.), Vegan, Raw, and more. I am skilled in both traditional cooking styles and trendy, health-minded new ones alike. I've run a cooking blog for nearly 4 years with great success.

Macintosh

I have used Macintosh (Apple) computers for my entire life. The very first computer I ever used as a child was a Mac, and my school (from pre-school through 12 grade) was stocked with Macs only. Since then, I've obviously continued to use only Macs. I'm incredibly comfortable with them, as well as with many other Apple devices.

Public Speaking

With a BA in Theatre, I approach public speaking with the detailed, structured, creative skill set used by professional actors. I have headed my own company, "Speak The Speech,' for the last year, and have assisted countless businessmen and businesswomen in perfecting pitches and presentations. Many clients have been involved in start-up companies and attribute their shifts from fragile ideas to solid businesses to their work with me on critical pitches to investors. I love public speaking. Though it may top the list of fears for many people, I believe it doesn't have to. Public speaking can be empowering, entertaining, and often life-changing.
