Hi,
I have been teaching ESL to people of all ages, starting with 6th grade up to the elderly, and each time, believe it or not, it has been a unique experience. I use all kinds of techniques to immerse my student in the language and modify them, depending on their needs and preferences.
Currently, I am teaching at Fordham University and have taught at St. John's University, Lehman College, Baruch College, LaGuardia CC, and Westchester Community College. Just tell me what your goals are, and we will work together towards achieving them.
I am considered friendly and approachable, so don't hesitate to contact me.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

English

Hi,
I have a Master's in English Language and Literature, with specialty in teaching, and I have worked in this capacity throughout my whole career. Since I believe in having fun while teaching, I make it fun for my students. It's contagious.

ESL/ESOL

Hi,
Teaching English as a Second Language is my passion as well as my area of expertise. The way I interact with a student involves using all kinds of technologies, but first of all I make it personalized and address her/his needs and personal preference. So let me know what suits you from the get-go, or I will explore and find out for myself even if you can't pinpoint it. I hope to talk to you soon.
Prof. G.

Grammar

Hello,
It so happens that grammar is my absolute favorite because I easily explain it without overwhelming my students. I always teach it clearly and with a lot of pleasure coming from the fact that I understand all the rules, intricacies and nuances. If you let me, I will gladly share with you my superb knowledge in the way that must be both enjoyable and simple.
I look forward to hearing from you soon.
Prof. G.

Polish

I was born and raised in Poland and did not come to the U.S. until I was 25. I speak and write in Polish with my family and friends on a regular basis, and I have taught Polish to English-speaking students. I'm even more fluent in Polish than I am in English, which I teach in college.

Proofreading

Hi,
I read my students' essays every single day and am expected to correct all the mistakes that they make. I'm very thorough and meticulous, so you can count on my pointing out all the areas that have to be fixed in your writing.
I guess I'll talk to you soon,
Prof. G.

Speech

I have a Master's in TESOL, which has prepared me for teaching phonetics, intonation, and other aspects of the English language teaching. Also, I have been working in language schools and colleges throughout the NYC Metro area for 20 plus years.

TOEFL

I specialize in Teaching English as a Foreign Language and use all kinds of technologies to make learning happen in the most effective and fun way. Also, I tailor the lessons around the student's needs and focus on the area where he/she needs improvement, unless requested specifically to target otherwise.

Vocabulary

Hello,
I primarily teach writing/reading classes, so I know about choice of words and everything else that is involved, including vocabulary expansion. I teach vocabulary in the context, so a student sees how words like to go together in so-called collocations, for example. Practice in synonyms, antonyms, prefixes, suffixes, various word forms, etc. will enhance your writing, reading, and speaking skills. It's all-encompassing.
Prof. G.

Writing
