I find teaching a very rewarding profession. It gives me great pleasure to see my students succeed, because I have taken the time to give them extra special instruction. My teaching styles vary according to the needs of my students. I can be very creative when necessary, and I will go the extra mile to make sure that my students understand what I am trying to convey. My personal style, passion for teaching, good humor, and dedication all serve to provide my students with the highest quality education.

Professional experience is my strong suit. For over twenty years I taught children of all ages, but I have taught adults as well. While I love to teach the elementary subjects, writing is my passion. I find helping others write well is very satisfying to me personally. Social studies is directly related to reading and writing since social studies is considered a content subject. I am very strong in this field and can teach social studies on an elementary level as well as grades 7-12.

I am a New York State certified teacher for all elementary subjects Grades K-6. I am also certified in English for grades 7-12. Provisional certification in social studies was also obtained several years ago. In 1993 I earned a master's degree in education from SUNY New Paltz.

In 1996, I was inducted into Marquis 'Who's Who of American Education'. If you are looking for the right tutor, you'll find a great tutor in me.

I am certified in New York to teach English up to the 12th grade. I taught English for 4 years to middle school students on a full time basis. Also taught English to high school students on a sub teacher basis.

as a sub teacher.

I have taken many, many courses in English lit in college, and I am well versed in what is required for ACT English.

American History

I have taught American history on a third grade level for 10 years full time.

I have taught American history on a middle school and high school level as a sub teacher for many years.

Spelling

Spelling is an integral part of the third grade curriculum, and for ten years I taught all third grade subjects including spelling and reading. Second grade subjects are not that different, and I believe I would be a good match as a tutor.

As an elementary teacher, I taught vocabulary and word recognition in all grades.

I taught students skills in using the dictionary and thesaurus as well as using the encyclopedia effectively. Students were required to look up, spell, and know the meanings of the words.
