Hi, my name is Esther G. and I have been tutoring children for about four years. I have volunteered and done it as my job. I mostly tutor kids anywhere from 1st to 8th grade. I am comfortable with elementary / middle school level math, science, English, and history. I can also teach music theory and composition, as well as the saxophone. I have been prepping kids for the NYC state test for about 3 years, and they have done well every time. As I go through work with your children, I will be thorough in not only working through problems, but identifying their strengths and weaknesses, and working with them accordingly. I absolutely love kids, tutoring is the only job I've ever done. I look forward to being part of your child's life as we venture into a wonderful journey of learning!

Bible Studies

Bible studies is something I am confident seeing as how I am an avid Christian. I have participated in an extracurricular activity called Bible Quizzing for about 5 years, where I memorized collectively over the years well over 1000 verses of the Bible. I was district champion in NY 3 years, and I went on to compete at the national level. It would be a pleasure to share my knowledge with children.

Composition (Music)

I have been composing for about a year now, under the direction of opera composer, Stefan Weisman. I have composed for the violin, viola, cello, percussion (kick drum, snare, and high hat), bassoon, oboe, trumpet, French horn, contrabass, and maybe a few others. Members of the American Symphony Orchestra have played the pieces I've written. I really love to compose and I'd be happy to help anyone that needs it.

Elementary (K-6th)

I have taught in this age group/grade level group the vast majority of my tutoring career, and I absolutely love it. Each kid I tutor is special to me, and I do everything I can to ensure their total success. I am comfortable with every subject. One of the biggest things I have to offer is that I'm only 18. This means I can relate to your child very well. I am also academically qualified for the job, besides my five years of experience, I have completed high school and an associate's degree simultaneously. I am continuing my undergraduate education at Hunter College in the fall. I am confident that I can be of help to many children.

Study Skills

Study skills, especially in younger kids are probably the most beneficial set of skills to be learned. It teaches organization and discipline. For younger kids, I teach them that getting a little amount of work done each day, especially during long breaks is the key to performing well. Therefore, I tend to make out schedules for kids who have multiple packets to get done over, let's say, spring break, so that not only do they practice, but they also learn that by doing a little work each day, they can succeed.
