I have been teaching elementary students for 10 years. I started as a substitute teacher for the upper grades (4-6) in NYC public schools. I started as a tutor in 1996. I worked in the Queens High Schools as a regular substitute teacher in Springfield Gardens, NY when I was assigned as a tutor for the High School students. I worked after school hours and on the weekends. I prepared the High School students for the English Language Arts New York State examinations. The tutoring approach I use is Essay Writing. For example, I taught Prewriting, Developing A Thesis, Developing The Essay; paragraphs, Introductions and Conclusions, and Editing The Essay(Proofreading). Also, I prepared the High School students for the Sequential Mathematics I and II. In addition to, I prepared the High School students for the GED. This is a prep course. The tutoring approach I use is computer technology, and library textbook materials. My personal approach to tutoring is helping students overcome fear/anxiety and succeed to best of their ability.
