Hello and welcome to my tutoring profile page!
My name is Bill P. and I am a senior college student studying Biological Sciences and Chemistry at a major university in New York. I have more than 10 years of experience teaching, tutoring math, sciences including social sciences and humanity to all level (from elementary to college students). My first tutoring experience was when I taught my younger sister simple math and reading when she was 6. I have always been there for my sister assisting her with math & science courses and she has performed exceptionally well.
As a college student I am greatly involved in community service and this has led me to greater commitment in education. I have tutored and mentored under-privilege high school students and students with disabilities. It was at first somewhat uncomfortable interacting with these students, but the more time I spend with them, the better I understand them and realize that they too have abilities to be successful in life. One of a major challenges working with these students is that you can never know if they show up the next class. Therefore, my principle teaching philosophy has always emphasized in training and providing my students with critical thinking skills and reflection. Getting result for a math problem is fairly easy. But to answer questions such as "Why? How?" and developing scientific and logical methods to solve similar or advanced problems is what I aim for my students and the time I spend with them.
I want my students to be successful in class, ready for college and whatever fields they are interested in. I want to share with them the skills and educational experience that I have in college.
