I have worked at Kaplan Test Prep for a few years teaching SAT/ACT and SHSAT. I graduated from Columbia University in May and will be attending NYU School of Medicine in the fall. I love to teach and I have received great reviews from previous students. I work well with kids. I have experience working with special education students. My schedule is very flexible. The student comes first and I will work hard to ensure that the student improves in school.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

ACT English

I scored very highly on my ACTs. I am very familiar with the test format and have tips on how to succeed on the ACTs.

ACT Math

I had a perfect score in the math section when I took my ACTs a few years ago. I know the material very well and I have tricks/tips on how to succeed on the math section of the ACTs.

ACT Reading

The reading section of the ACTs tests you not only on your verbal skills but also tests how well you can manage your time. I have tips on how to attack each type of question as well as how to best make use of the allotted time.

ACT Science

The ACT science section tests a student on their basic knowledge of biology, physics, chemistry and earth science. I have taught the ACTs at Kaplan Test Prep for a few years. I know all the tricks/tips to succeeding on the science section.

Algebra 1

The algebra 1 Regents tests a student on their ability to solve equations, write equations from a given word problem and graph equations. I have a simple way of teaching the material that helps students understand exactly what they will be tested on.

Biology

I have tutored many students in high school biology. I have also taken college level biology and was the TA for the class the following semester. I have excellent review sheets from when I took the class. My review sheets have helped many students do well in their class, the Regents, and the SAT subject test.

Genetics

I have taken genetics in college and received an A in the course. My course was focused on DNA and how it gets replicated. The second part of the course focused on how the genetic material is regulated and the technology used to decode the genetic material.

Geometry

I took the geometry Regents a few years ago when I was in high school and I scored in the high 90s. I am very good with proofs and solving/graphing inequalities.

Microbiology

I have taken microbiology in college and received an A- in the course. In the course we covered various infectious diseases as well as the differences between prokaryotes and eukaryotes. I am excellent with the bacterial and disease classifications.

Regents

I graduated from Stuyvesant high school and scored above a 90 on the living environment, physics, chemistry, geometry, trigonometry, U.S. history, and global history Regents. I am familiar with the material that is tested and I have excellent study tips on how to do well on each exam. I have review sheets that target the topics that are tested most on the Regents.

Writing

I am very proficient in grammar and how to write essays. I have taught grammar to high school students to prepare them for the writing section of the SAT/ACTs.
