My daughter's confidence in math and science was low. I was concerned with her passing the math and living environment regents. We found Ms. Gil and the transformation began. My daughter finished both her math and living environment regents saying, "Mom, I felt comfortable with the exam. I felt prepared." Thank you, Ms. Gil for your patience and understanding. You care and are a blessing. Oh...did I forget to mention she scored 82 on both exams!
Katherine from Brooklyn, NY on 7/1/14
Gilant was everything that my son needed. She assessed where he was in his math skills and worked diligently with him. She understood his fears. She never gave up on him, and helped him to believe in his abilities to pass his Regents. She accomplished in three weeks that which no amount of summer school or other prep classes had been able to do over the past three years. My son did not merely pass, but earned a 79 on his regents.
Gilant is a marvelous tutor. She always responded to any question or concern I had in a prompt manner.
I would have no hesitation in recommending her to anyone who has a child needing help in math.
"Great Appreciation "
Britney from Queens Village, NY on 6/30/14
Ms. Gilant did an amazing job with preparing me for the eighth grade science, ninth grade Earth science, eighth-grade common core math, and the ninth grade common core and integrated algebra Regents. She is so sweet and truly cares for each of her students. It's a great privilege to work with her, and I look forward to continuing this August to prepare for 9th grade.
Gilant replied on 7/1/2014:
Britney, thank you. You are truly amazing. When I first met you, you were so intimidated by Mathematics. However, you never gave up. You did all your assignments, you always tried, and you were very determined to do well. As I watched you grow academically strong and more determined, it forced me to challenge you more, but you never backed down. I am proud of your achievement and know that there are many more waiting for you. It is my honor and pleasure to continue working with you for a successful future. You also have two of the best and most supportive parents and that helps too.
"Great tutor... Great improvement! "
Morgan from Jamaica, NY on 6/29/14
Ms. Gilant tutored my son in 3rd grade Math & English. When my son started he had trouble with writing summaries about what he read & breaking down words that he doesn't know to pronounce. In Math he just had problems identifying the key words. Ms. Gilant gave him great tips to help him work through his issues. My son had great improvement in both his English & Math. He's a better reader & can better identify the math problems. She also helped him prepare for the ELA & Math State test. He passed & now we're onto the 4th grade.
"Very Patient, Caring, and Organized"
Robynn from Cambria Heights, NY on 6/28/14
I pursued Ms. Gil for 3 years to tutor my daughter and finally last year we were able to accommodate each other's schedules to make tutoring my daughter happen, and I am so happy I continued my pursuit! Ms. Gil really cares about her students & their success. My daughter was really, really struggling with math in school. Thanks to Ms. Gil's diligent, caring, yet disciplined way of teaching, she was able to make that breakthrough with my daughter. Out of all her regents exam she scored the highest in math! Ms. Gil's knowledge of subjects is astounding. She is detailed oriented and has lesson plans & homework laid out for each student's individual needs. It's like being home schooled! Ms. Gil is a great tutor & a godsend that every parent would want if their child is struggling like my daughter was! My daughter & I are extremely happy for finding Ms. Gil to the point that neither of us plans to let her go until my daughter graduates college! Great tutor!
"Very pleasant and understanding tutor"
Diana from South Ozone Park, NY on 6/27/14
As a freshman in a new school, my daughter was struggling with math. I was searching the internet for a tutor who could gets results and I came across WyzAnt. I gave it a try and it worked out very well for my daughter.
My daughter did great with the help of Ms. Gil getting her through her math and LE Regents. Ms. Gil is very pleasant to talk to and very understanding. By the way, I had interviewed a lot of other tutors around my area before I chose Ms. Gil. I am extremely happy with my choice. Thank you Ms. Gil for helping my daughter. I really appreciate it. And thanks for the patience and kindness.
Cherri from Jamaica, NY on 6/18/14

"Best thing for my daughter"
Nyree from Saint Albans, NY on 6/12/14
After exploring a few resources at my daughter's school, her grades in math still hadn't improved. With the new common core standards, it's been a challenge for her to adjust to the new curriculum. Thankfully, I was able to find Miss Gil. She's been a great help not only helping her with grades, but also boosting her confidence in math. She continues to bring high test scores and her average as a whole has improved. Thank you once again Miss Gil for your help, patience, and flexibility!
"AMAZING Tutor! "
Tamara from Brooklyn, NY on 6/12/14
I met Gilant as a struggling college math student and she gave me the tools to succeed! I can honestly say that with her assistance, I was able to pass a math course that I previously failed 3 times prior to her tutoring! She is patient, understanding, and explains generally difficult concepts so effortlessly it makes math fun and challenging. After each session, I felt confident and reassured that I could tackle my exams successfully. I passed my CUNY Compass Exam this week and I couldn’t be more thrilled. Take it from someone who thought she would NEVER pass math, Gilant is a Godsend!
"Very Pleased with Ms. Gil"
Nadia from South Richmond Hill, NY on 4/6/14
Ms. Gil is very patient with my daughter and identifies her weak points right away. She works hard with my daughter to help her build the skills needed to pass the ELA Common Core Exams. My daughter has gained much needed confidence since she started and I'm very pleased. We will continue to work with Ms. Gil and I know my daughter will do great. Thank you Ms. Gil.
Tamika from Brooklyn, NY on 1/31/14
Ms. Gil is an excellent tutor, while tutoring my daughter in Living Environment she had her good/bad days. Ms. Gil was very patient -- she really works hard with your child to make sure that she does her job and that your child receives the best score ever. Towards the last session my daughter really felt confident and was far from nervous. I'm very happy we had the opportunity to work with Ms. Gil. I will recommend her anytime. Thank You!
Gilant replied on 2/3/2014:
Thank you, Tamika. The best part is when your daughter called today, to say that she has passed the Living Environment Regents exam. I am so proud of her. All the best to both of you.
"Very patient with teenagers!!"
Clarise from Brooklyn, NY on 1/15/14
Ms. Gilant is extremely patient with my daughter who is stubborn at times, but Ms. Gilant is working very will with her. My Daughter likes her better than her regular math teacher that she has in the 7th grade. She said Ms. Gilant is very helpful in areas that are difficult to her and she explains everything in detail. As a single parent I enjoy Ms. Gilant's patience and tolerance with my daughter because she can be hard to deal with at times. Ms. Gilant is a great tutor thus far. Thank you WyzAnt for this wonderful tutor.

In the short time that Miss Gil has been tutoring my daughter, I have seen great improvement in her work ethic and drive. Miss Gil identified immediately the areas my daughter needed to work on and she has benefited greatly from the one-on-one tutoring. I am truly thankful that we found Miss Gil, she has been wonderful in accommodating us with our busy schedules. She's structured, straight forward, organized and wears a big smile!! Thanks again Miss Gil for your expertise.
"Great tutor but firm"
Abby from Saint Albans, NY on 10/21/13
Miss Gilant was a good but firm tutor. She was exactly what my son needed to keep him focus. However, he needed more time to prepare for the regents exams. He came very close nevertheless thanks Ms Gilant.
Gilant replied on 10/22/2013:
Hello Abby, Thanks for the comment. I was happy when your son told me that he passed both Regents exams, Algebra I and Living Environment. He went from scoring 30s and 40s on the practice exams to scoring as high as 60s - 80s. He text me that he scored 73 in Algebra and 71 in Living Environment. I am proud of him, and I agree with you about the length of time to prepare for both exams.
Dominique from Elmont, NY on 10/16/13
Ms. Gil has been working with my daughter for the past couple of months to prepare her for the SAT. I don't know how my daughter fared on the SAT yet, however, I think the decision to get private tutoring and use Ms. Gil was the best thing I could have possibly done. She is serious about the work she does and motivates the students to perform. I appreciate the time and energy she put into my daughter, and regardless of the SAT score, I know my daughter learned skills that will carry her throughout life. Thanks Ms. Gil!

Ms Gill was a blessing from God, just wanted to take this time and express my appreciation for helping my son achieve his goal so now he can move on to his next chapter in life. You need a tutor and want to pass, look no further!! Ms Gill again I THANK YOU.

ANTOINETTE from Brooklyn, NY on 8/14/13
My tutor Ms Gilant is an amazing & dynamic person. From day one she took my baby girl under her wing and pulled her self esteem up to the level where it should be. My daughter is very confident now and is willing to sit down to take a test fearlessly. Months ago I could not have said that! She had 2 regents to conquer & Ms. Gil stood by her side With tolerance of "I don't know or I forgot" Ms. Gil was very firm & was determined to the passing of those regents. Well for History her hardest subject she scored a 75%. Tomorrow is Living Environment and I already know she'll ace that one too. As soon as the results are in I, the proud mother, will post.THANK YOU Ms. Gil for your HARD WORK & DEDICATION.
Gilant replied on 8/17/2013:
Thank you Antoinette, and congratulations to us (You, your daughter and I). With our diligence and commitment, your daughter has passed her Living Environment and US History Regents examinations. All the best to her in all her future endeavors.

Gilant is very knowledgeable and tries her best to help her students. She has helped me with the Entrance exams for College. I highly recommend her.
"Caring tutor, highly sought after."
Marie from Franklin Square, NY on 6/20/13
Gilant was a very patient and caring tutor. She was very thorough and showed genuine concern for my daughter's academic success. As a result she has a very tight schedule and has little tolerance for lateness and close call cancellations.
Cynthia from Jamaica, NY on 6/18/13
Ms Gilant is a great tutor, she is patient and she explains the work to you. My daughter had to take the Living environment regent but she could not understand her teacher (heavy accent) so I hired Ms Gilant, and my daughter got much better in class and she understood the work, her last session was a day before the Regent and my daughter left out of the school after taking the Regent test feeling GREAT because she knew what was on the test due to the last session she had with Ms Gilant. I've recommend other parents to contact Ms Gilant if their children needs help with their school work.
Gilant replied on 6/26/2013:
Thank you Cynthia. I was very happy when you called today, to let me know that your daughter scored 80% on Living Environment Regents exam.
"Great tutor and very patient with kids."
Stacie from Brooklyn, NY on 6/18/13
It was a great pleasure with selecting Ms. Gilant to tutor my son. Although I hired her February to help my son with his State Exams for Elementary school, she was still very helpful in helping my son pass both of his state exams. Ms. G is very patient and strict (in a nice way) don't play around, gets down to business to get the job done. She is a very polite person that travels all over to help students in need. Ms. G also helped my son with subjects for the exam that his school teacher hadn't even covered yet but she tutored my son and helped him be more knowledgeable for his tests. She was also on time and never rushed when time was up for the sessions. Yes she gives homework but that helped my son even more and got him more ready for his tests. Thank you so much Ms. G for all your help, I will make sure to keep her phone # for the future and for any parent I know who child my need a little help and a extra push.
DAWN from Cambria Heights, NY on 6/1/13

My husband and I have seen much improvement in our daughter. Since working with Gilant P, she has come out of her shell, gained confidence and is doing much better. I like that although Gilant is patient, she is no push over and can be a little tough, which we believe is needed. Tough love goes a long way.
Gilant replied on 12/25/2012:
Thank you Carvel. It is a pleasure to work with parents who want the best for their child, encourage her and with that your child strives for the best. It is such a pleasure to watch her grow academically, and confidently.

"A Great Tutor "
Rose from Jamaica, NY on 8/24/12
Ms Gilant is a superb tutor. I have observed that Ms. Gilant is not there for the money, but her goal is to make sure that her students receive the best tutoring as possible. My daughter speaks highly of her. Because of Ms. Gilant's enthusiasm, she looks forward to receiving a higher SAT score in the Fall.
Gilant replied on 12/25/2012:
Thank you Rose. Your daughter was such a pleasure to work with. She is a positive and determined young lady, who knows what she wants her life to be. She also knows that the only way she can accomplish this is with hard work. She has come a long way academically and can only get better.
Revington from Springfield Gardens, NY on 7/10/12
I would have to rate her as competent, caring and practical. You can only work with what you have. Most students seeking tutoring are average or a little disadvantaged. I see that she is aware of what she has to work with and is capable of producing positive results.
Gilant replied on 6/27/2013:
Although I appreciate the comment, I must say that not all students are average, and some students exceed what was originally expected of them. Some students just need a little motivation, and others need a little bit more. One student scores jumped to a 92% overall in Algebra, although she only scored an 85% on her Algebra Regents. Her final score for Earth Science was an 88%, although she only scored an 82% on the Regents exam. Last year a student who scored a little over 1600 on her SATs, with my help ended up scoring a 1950, when she took the exam again. She also took Math II of the SAT 2, did very well, and will be attending the University of Massachusetts in the fall. Thanks for the comments, but not all students are created equally. I am happy to say that your daughter has passed the Integrated Algebra Regents exam, Living Environment and now Geometry. So proud of her. Global History is next.
"Very thorough, patient and pleasant."
Annie from Far Rockaway, NY on 7/3/12
First off, I was very impressed that Gil was open to traveling all the way out to my home to tutor my 9th grader. Gil has such a pleasant disposition. My usually shy daughter was immediately comfortable with her and her teaching style. Gil never missed any sessions, and would adjust her sessions accordingly if she was ever late, so that my daughter never missed any tutoring time. She was able to identify my daughter's weaknesses and addressed them from the get go. She's very honest and cares about her students. I would definitely recommend Gil to anyone in need of the tutoring services that she offers.
Gilant replied on 12/25/2012:
Thank you Annie. Your daughter is a smart, young lady who enjoys doing well in school and is willing to put in the time and work to accomplish this. She has a bright future ahead of her.

Math has always intimidated my daughter...until we met Miss Gil. Miss Gil put her at ease in the math world of 9th grade Algebra. We look forward to working with Miss Gil concerning my daughter's mathematic studies over the next 3 years!
Gilant replied on 6/27/2013:
Thank you Tanya. Some days I hardly recognize her because of how confident she is! She faces each Math problem without hesitation, understands most time by the first example, and retains the information! This is one student that I am very proud of and speaks often about, especially when I meet students with the same fear of math that she originally had. Her grades continue to be strong for someone who is not a fan of Mathematics. She finished with an 89% in Integrated Algebra and an 81% in Geometry. So Proud of her.
Carla from Saint Albans, NY on 6/5/12
My son was having a very hard time with comprehension in school and because of this he was not successful in his ELA state exam last year and he had to repeat 4th grade. I tried numerous tutors and none seems to help as much as Ms. Gil. She helped him to see where he was going wrong with reading and understanding what was read so that it would be much easier to answer question that was asked in each story. His teacher said he is doing very well in that subject now and although the results of this years ELA is not out as yet I am quite positive that the outcome is going to be great. Thanks Ms. Gil.
Tyeisha from Jamaica, NY on 5/30/12
So far my son has met with Ms. Gil about three times. After a session with Ms. Gil, he discusses what occurred and I believe that there is some progress being made however what I enjoy the most about Ms. Gil is the way she communicates the lessons they've reviewed and weather or not he's doing well or as she expected. This up front and honest approach is very rewarding. We have finally found someone who isn't afraid to tell us like it is.
"Gets the job done!!"

The first thing I observed is Ms. G's patience; I admired that. My daughter feels very comfortable and likes the way Ms. G breaks down the vocabulary words and gives examples to assist her. I look forward to seeing an improvement in my daughter's test scores.
Naomy from Brooklyn, NY on 1/7/12
My family has the honor to have Mrs. Gil as a tutor. Mrs. Gil has been tutoring my seven year old for a couple of months, and getting him prepared for the state exam ELA. My son has shown great improvement in all of his school work. Mrs. Gil is dedicated in the work that she does. With all her hard work my son’s vocabulary has improved. His writing is better, His math skills have gotten much better. My son’s grades on his report card have successfully increased. Mrs. Gil wants her students to progress, so she gives homework, spelling quizes, and ELA test to see mush much her student has learned, and I love it.
Gilant replied on 6/27/2013:
Thank you Naomy. I truly enjoy working with your son. He is such a polite student. He has a great team behind him; you and the family. You are the kind of Mother who makes sure that your son completes all assignments and you do not complain about the challenges or the assignments that I give him. I was very happy today when you text me that he scored all 4s on his report card. He has come so far, from scoring 1 and 2. So proud of him.
"Nice person but disorganized with scheduling appointments"
Madelynne from Rosedale, NY on 10/19/11
Gilant P. appeared to be a kind and caring woman, but didn't work out for my son's tutoring needs. Within the month's time of having her tutor my son, she started off late to tutor sessions due to traveling issues and then scheduling problems arose. Within a month, our scheduled appointment's times and locations were changed several times making it very inconvenient and frustrating. Also, as expressed initially, my desire was to have one on one tutoring for my son. On one occasion, there were five or more children scheduled within the time my son was receiving tutoring which was disturbing to me. Consequently, I felt my child was not getting the appropriate attention and we had to discontinue her services. Overall, I don't know what kind of impact she would have made as a tutor for my son.
Gilant replied on 11/16/2012:
I am a tutor and an education coach. My priority is to help that student to focus and learn, and perhaps develop new study habits and practices. While I was working with your son at your home, the television was on loudly a few feet away, and every time someone was going in and out of the house noisily. We agreed that he would be tutored at my home where I tutor other students as well. He seemed to be a little more focus and became a little more confident. Also, he was in an environment where other students are doing the same as he is. On the last appointment he told me that the topic I covered with him in Math, his teacher taught it a week later, and he was able to understand and did well. Your son told me that he was feeling more confident about going to high school next year. I decided to give his writing some more attention, and spent an hour trying to help him. He was a little resistant. So I suggested to you and your husband that we meet once per week at the library where I would work with only him to improve his writing. When a student does well or show improvement I will 'sing' praises accordingly. If that student needs to know what to do for improvement, then I have to state that too. I think that with encouragement, diligence and a little 'nudge' your son would have been writing and doing math much better. All the best to both of you.
Martha from Jamaica, NY on 9/3/11
Gilant is a great tutor, my son is more motivated to practice his areas of weakness with more confidence. Gilant is very patient and explains all his questions. She makes him practice till he understand and is able to do it. I believe that when his SAT time he will be ready. Thanks Gilant

"Professional, Diligent, Caring" These are the best words to describe Miss Gil. My child was struggling with ELA and Gil patiently worked to increase reading comprehension and writing skills. Currently we are planning for the upcoming school year, also her hourly rate is affordable.
Anne Marie from Springfield Gardens, NY on 7/28/11
My daughter Raquel needed help to complete high school and because of Gil's tutoring, she received a 97 on the Math RCT. Gil was consistent and detailed and my daughter felt comfortable with her during the lessons.

"Disorganized and unprofessional tutor"
Carolyn from Bronx, NY on 7/18/11
My daughter stated she has no problem with the tutoring however Ms Gilant seem to have a problem with her scheduling. I spoke with her 2 days after my daughter tutoring and did confirm my daughter would continue tutoring, but we had a discussion on having my daughter 4 hours which I was questioning about 2 hours. I did tell her I would let her know if I can afford 2 or 4 hours. Ms Gilant called back and leave a text to confirm for Wednesday next thing I know she was calling me to tell me I have to choose another tutor, because she already gave that time to someone else. My daughter needs help to pass her regents but I cannot have her deal with someone who is so disorganized with her scheduling.
Gilant replied on 7/20/2011:
I met with Carolyn and her daughter on Wednesday, July 13th. They were both 10 minutes late. Her daughter is a lovely young lady who wants to learn more and pass her Algebra Regents exam. She was very attentive and asked questions when she was not sure. After the session, I told her that she needs more practice sessions, which she agreed. I told her that I would speak to Carolyn. That evening I called Carolyn and told her that her daughter needs much practice to pass the exam. Anyway, Carolyn said that she would get back to me but never did. Another parent wanted the time slot. I told that mother I would have to get back to her. I text Carolyn but and called her but she never responded. So I gave the time to the other parent.
