Hi!

My name is Tiffany. I am a recent graduate from Vassar College with Departmental Honors in Music.

I played piano for 10+ years (classical & chord-realization and improvisation for Contemporary Christian music).

I received classical vocal training at Vassar, and was a member of 4 choirs (Madrigal singers, Vassar College Choir, Vassar Women's Chorus, Camerata choir).

I have worked at the Infant Toddler Center on campus for the past summer. I also worked in Morry's Camp, summer of 2011, as a nanny and as a voice and piano tutor for the campers.

I've been involved with Sunday school for most of my life, have volunteered in the Ministry for people with disability in my home church all throughout high school.

I have few years of ESL under my belt, since my family emigrated to the US when I was 14. Mastering English was tough, and having a great ESL teacher (basically a mentor and a mother) was a HUGE help. I would love to pass that on!

Ear Training

I have taken 3 semesters of Musicianship skill class at Vassar college, which dealt much with ear training. The exercises on which we were regularly graded on are:

Interval dictation
Melodic dictation
Rhythmic dictation and
Harmonic dictation.

We first began with diatonic dictations, and progressed to atonal melodic dictations as well.

I received A's for all three semesters.

General Music

I graduated Vassar college as a music major, with Departmental Honors in Music.

I have taken classes in theory, history, musicianship skill and performances.

I have sung in 4 on-campus choirs and Opera workshops.

I also have played piano for 10 years, (Grade 100 on NYSSMA level 6 for piano)

and have been involved in Church music as a keyboardist and singer all throughout high school and college.

Piano

I have been classically trained for over 10 years. I achieved 100 on NYSSMA level 6 Piano performance.
Took piano lessons in Vassar college for a year. I also know how to do chord-realizations and improvisations. I have been a pianist/keyboardist in my church throughout high school and college.

Voice (Music)

I was classically trained all four years in Vassar College. (taught by James Ruff, tenor.)

I have sung operatic repertoire in 2 semesters of Opera workshop.

I have sung in the Vassar college choir, Vassar College women's choir, Vassar Madrigal singers, the

student-run Camerata choir, which specializes in Medieval and Renaissance music, and the student-run

Magagonny choir, which specializes in music composed past 1920.

I was born and raised in South Korea.

I finished 8th grade there, before emigrating to US.

I can read, write, speak and comprehend Korean. (and type! :-) in Korean.)

I have had multiple opportunities to help my friends who are learning Korean at Vassar,

and I help my parents' business by translating phone-calls, documents and conversations from English->

Korean, and Korean-> English.

ESL/ESOL

I was an ESL student in 8- 9th grade. I tested out of ESL in 9th grade. I have taken Honors English classes in 10th and 11th grade. I took AP literature in 12th grade. I graduated from Vassar college, NY, where I took many humanities courses.
