I have been teaching as a substitute teacher for a little over 2 years. My area of certification is elementary and special education. In addition, I have a bachelor's degree in international business. Furthermore, I am proficient in Spanish and American Sign language.
At Monroe Community college I have tutored Rochester city school students in a program called Liberty Partnerships. I believe that students need to use the study method that works for them. There are many different learning styles and I work with the student one to one to determine their unique learning style. Then I am able to differentiate my lessons according to their learning style for my student to succeed. I constantly assess my students to ensure they are learning the material at an appropriate pace and I adjust my lessons accordingly. When I tutor my students I teach them good study habits, such as, studying a little bit each night to avoid cramming for the big test or to draw up flashcards with important terms and concepts. I want my students to feel a sense of accomplishment and satisfaction with their school work which will give them the confidence they need to push themselves even more. The students I work with will master the subject, because I am experienced and confident in my teaching methods. Finally, I will work with the parents too in order help their children succeed in school, because I feel the parents are an important part of the equation. I look forward to teaching and working with your child to help them succeed!
