I have more than three years experience tutoring English, writing, and research on campus to college students, and 10 years in business as senior editor and writer for a publishing company. While a tutor cannot do your work for you, I can help YOU make your papers shine, identify technical issues, and polish your individual writing style. I like to emphasize that writing is a process—from your original idea through the various organizational steps, and on to proper citation style (APA, MLA, AP, Chicago). If you are baffled by literature and poetry, we can brainstorm and tweak out elements of the authors' art so it will make sense. We can also identify the elements of English that may be holding you back; whether grammar problems, spelling errors, or vocabulary issues.

My undergraduate degree is in English, with concentration in Professional and Business Communications and a minor in music.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
