A certified science teacher, I am passionate about my subject. With experience in multiple education settings, from one on one tutoring to regular classrooms, I have the ability to be flexible and have a broad range of strategies to suit every type of student. I have tutored and taught at the middle school, high school and tutored at the college level. These experience have covered a plethora of topics at different levels including Regents Chemistry, AP Chemistry, Regents Biology, Regents Physics, College Level General Chemistry, College Level Organic Chemistry and 8th grade science. Having over a decade of tutoring experience, I have had both high needs and honors students as well as students with a variety of learning disabilities.
My teaching philosophy is student centered and focused on first assessing, then addressing any gaps in student knowledge. My strengths include an ability to differentiate my lessons, enabling me to engage students visually, audibly and kinesthetically. I often switch between direct instruction type lessons, where I first explain, then model a skill before asking a student to first practice and then perform that skill with more holistic lessons that go over study and organizations skills as part of the content.

Group rates are $60 per person.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I am an NYS certified chemistry teacher. I have tutored at the middle school, high school and college level.
I have tutored organic chemistry at the college level with the Educational Opportunity Program. I also hold a BA in chemistry and therefore needed to take and pass Orgo 1, Orgo 2 and Orgo Lab. Furthermore, I am a NY certified chemistry teacher.
For Organic especially, I work to have students learn underlying concepts (electron pushing, resonance) instead of memorization.
